Group payroll manager

Group Payroll Manager | West Kent (2 days a week WFH) | Up to £70k
This Group Payroll Manager is an integral part of the Finance leadership team in a large, fast paced organisation, and will lead the payroll team across the Group.

As Group Payroll Manager, you will work with the payroll team as well as Senior Managers across the business to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for just under 10,000 staff. You will be an enthusiastic positive and motivated role model for the team, building a culture of continuous improvement and demonstrate an openness to change.

The role is responsible for:

Managing processing of monthly, four weekly, fortnightly and weekly payrolls including associated payroll deductions efficiently, accurately within deadlines
Liaising with HMRC, pension providers, software providers etc as required
Project managing the implementation of a new system across all Group companies
Integrating the payroll of any future company acquisitions
Ensure the team are up to date with their knowledge of payroll legislation
Manage team performance by allocating priorities and workloads to enable team and individual goals and objectives to be met and exceeded
Develop a positive, high performing and collaborative team
Payroll reporting to Senior Leaders
Developing payroll processes and procedures, identifying and implementing streamlining opportunities and efficiencies whilst ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Providing payroll advice and support to the People Team as well as all operational and departmental managers
Support the annual financial audit process
Acting as the point of escalation for all payroll queries

The right individual will ideally have:

Recognised payroll qualification
Strong payroll background
Extensive experience working as a payroll manager in a busy payroll function
Must have experience of payroll project leadership including system changes and acquisitions
Demonstrable current knowledge of payroll law and best practice.
